EPID627: Systematic Reviews And Meta-analyses

  • Description: This course will provide methodologic and practical details of performing systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Specific topics to be covered include: formulation of the review question, searching literature, study quality assessment, data extraction, meta-analytic methods, network meta-analyses, extensions to geographic information systems (GIS), genomics and spatial analyses, and assessments of heterogeneity.

Explain the role of quantitative and qualitative methods and sciences in describing and assessing a population's health 2. Explain the critical importance of evidence in advancing public health knowledge 5. Explain effects of environmental factors on a population's health 6. Explain the social, political and economic determinants of health and how they contribute to population health and health inequities 9. Explain how globalization affects global burdens of disease
