Research Interests & Projects
My current research focuses on characterizing environmental pathogen loads to understand how sanitation interventions affect pathogen transmission and impact diarrheal disease risk, with study sites in Ethiopia and Mexico. In Mexico, I am studying how water treatment impacts pathogen loads in canals that carry waste water for use in crop irrigation. In Ethiopia, I work in Addis Ababa, where I characterize how sanitation levels impact on the types of pathogens that cause diarrhea in infants.
