Research Interests & Projects

My research interests include childhood and adolescent nutrition and the relation between nutrition and early life risk factors for chronic disease.

My current research focuses on fatty acid nutrition and chronic disease risk factors in Latin American children. I am examining correlates (family, dietary, and sociodemographic) of fatty acid status in Mesoamerican children and their parents, as well as the status of specific fatty acids as predictors of early risk factors for chronic disease (including metabolic syndrome, BMI trajectories, and early pubertal development) in children from Mesoamerica and Chile.
