Research Interests & Projects
My research interests include nutritional epidemiology, genetic epidemiology, and
epidemiology of cardiovascular disease. I am particularly interested in the complex
relationship between dietary factors and various cardiovascular/metabolic outcomes
in the developing world that has been undergoing nutrition transitions.
Some of my current projects are: genetic modification of triggers of acute myocardial infarction in Costa Rica, associations between dietary patterns and metabolic syndrome in Samoa and in the United States, and new biomarkers of dietary fatty acids intake among school-age children.
