Dr. Brachman was former director of the Epidemiology Intelligence Service at CDC and an internationally-renowned educator in global health and field epidemiology. Dr. Brachman served more than 30 years as planning committee chair of the Summer Session in Epidemiology. This year's Philip S. Brachman Memorial Lecturer is Larry Brilliant, MD, MPH. Dr. Brilliant is the founding President of the Skoll Global Threats Fund and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Skoll Global Threats Fund, as well as Ending Pandemics. Prior to joining Skoll, Dr. Brilliant was Vice President of Google and Executive Director of Google.org. Dr. Brilliant is board certified in preventive medicine and public health and was the founder of The Seva Foundation, an international NGO whose programs have given back sight to more than 3 million blind people in 20 countries. He was also a former Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the University of Michigan.
