Faculty Profile

Aurora B. Le, PhD, MPH, CSP, CPH
- John G. Searle Assistant Professor of Environmental Health Sciences
Dr. Le's interdisciplinary research is centered around occupational health. This includes her research and practice in highly infectious disease mitigation and management, with a focus on training, education, prevention, and preparedness. Dr. Le also conducts research on occupational health disparities and psychosocial factors of work in several non-healthcare worker populations. She conducts all her research with a translational lens and implements community based participatory research. Dr. Le's long-term goals include advancing a research program that advances worker health through Total Worker Health approaches.
- PhD, Indiana University, 2020
- MPH, University of Nebraska Medical Center, 2016
- BA, University of California, San Diego, 2012
Research Interests:
highly infectious disease disruption, worker training and education, health behavior,
industrial hygiene
Research Projects:
Le co-leads the Michigan Healthy Nail Salon Cooperative (MHNSC). MHNSC is comprised
researchers and students from the University of Michigan School that partners with
the nail salon community. Through advocacy, education, and research, MHNSC aims to
discover and raise awareness of health and safety issues faced by nail salon owners
and employees and work together to find solutions to these issues.
Domestic research interests have focused on assessing training and education gaps, as well as psychosocial factors, among non-healthcare worker populations, such as waste workers, death care workers, firefighters, and miners.
Through several funding mechanisms and collaboration, Le develops education and training for National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) personnel to improve their ability to mitigate and manage occupational hazards when they are deployed for emergency response.
Le still maintains her practice-based public health as subaward PI of the Prevention, Preparedness, and Response (P2R) Consortium, a National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) Worker Training Program (WTP).
