Summer 2017 Faculty Updates

Congratulations Dr. Connell!

We are thrilled that Dr. Cathleen Connell has been selected as interim dean of SPH. She is well equipped to lead the school having served as our associate chair in 2013 and chair from 2014-2016.

We have been fortunate to add several new faculty members to our roster this year.

Dr. Paul Fleming joined us in September 2016, read an interview with him here. Dr. Fleming's mixed-methods research focuses on developing and evaluating interventions that aim to transform gender norms to reduce HIV incidence and improve sexual and reproductive health in Latin American and sub-Saharan African countries.

This September Dr. Justin Heinze will be transitioning from our research faculty to a tenure-track faculty position. Dr. Heinze's research focuses on the development and evaluation of community interventions designed to prevent risk behaviors in disadvantaged adolescent and young adult populations.

We will also welcome Dr. Kristi Gamarel this fall, coming to us from Brown University. Kristi's research focuses on how stigma diminishes health, with a particular focus on identifying the interpersonal processes that protect and inhibit the health of youth, couples and families.

Stay tuned for an interview of Dr. Heinze and Dr. Gamarel this fall.
