  • Dana Dolinoy's lab investigates environmental epigenetics and gene-environment interactions. It is increasingly recognized that environmental exposure to chemical, nutritional, and behavioral factors alters gene expression and affects health and disease by not only mutating promoter and coding regions of genes, but also by modifying the epigenome.
  • Current projects look at in utero exposure to Bisphenol A and effects on the fetal epigenome; environmental and epigenomic profiling of pre-adolescent females in rural versus urban populations; and effect on on the epigenome of early life exposures (to lead, oxidative stress, iron deficiency).
  • The American Society for Nutrition chose Dana Dolinoy as recipient of the 2011 Norman Kretchmer Memorial Award in Nutrition and Development, which is given to a young investigator for a substantial body of independent research with potential relevance to improving child health.
