New Data Science Master's Program Created

The University of Michigan has launched a new data science master’s program, a collaborative effort involving the College of Engineering’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, LSA’s Department of Statistics, the School of Information, and the School of Public Health’s Department of Biostatistics.

Data Science is often viewed as the confluence of computer and information sciences, statistical sciences, and domain expertise. The first two pillars together represent the core methodologies and techniques used in data science, while the third pillar is the application domain to which this methodology is applied. In this program, core data science training is focused on the first two pillars, along with practice in applying skills to address problems in application domains.

Students graduating from the program will be prepared for a variety of career paths in data science, including business analysis across a variety of industries, novel IT careers, and working on scientific research teams.

The program is accepting applications for Fall 2018 admission.
