Health Behavior Methods and Skills Certificate for Online MPH Students

The Health Behavior Methods and Skills certificate will help students develop core research skills necessary for achieving and assessing behavior changes that are vital to conducting effective health behavior and health education interventions. Students will learn survey research methods, behavioral research methods, motivational interviewing, and clear communication design. With this certificate students build a toolbox of techniques useful for creating change towards healthier communities and lifestyles.

“Regardless of the work you’re going into, you’re going to need to communicate with people, you’re going to need to motivate people, and you’re going to need to understand data about populations - these are skills you’re going to be making use of in your everyday work.”

- Brian Zikmund-Fisher, Professor, Health Behavior and Health Education

Students learn how to measure and analyze the health knowledge and beliefs held by individuals and communities and leverage that information to create interventions that facilitate health behavior change.
