Attending graduate school wasn’t always something that Catherine Garber thought would be obtainable. “Luckily, the University of Michigan School of Public Health has great funding opportunities that helped make my dream of getting a Master of Public Health possible,” said Garber, who is a member of the graduating Class of 2023 after earning a master’s degree in Health Behavior and Health Education.

Dr. Rob Davidson has served patients in his community for nearly two decades in a rural west Michigan ER. Using that experience he's become a vocal advocate for state and national policies to expand affordable healthcare to all patients. He discusses how he's earning his MPH as an online master’s student, while battling COVID-19 on the frontlines and fighting for health care policy in the media.

In eighth grade, Briana Nelson decided to improve her fitness. With personal initiative and family support, a lifetime passion for nutrition was born. “It was a total transformation,” Nelson says, and her ability to focus and move herself forward toward big goals is helping her achieve great things as a student-athlete and as an ambassador for health equity.

Public health alum Caroline Mandel is director of performance nutrition for the University of Michigan athletic department. Since March 12, when all collegiate competition and practice ceased, she and her staff face a new challenge—keeping student-athletes healthy and well at home during a pandemic.
