Summary
Douglas Wiebe is a Professor of Epidemiology whose global health work includes collaborations with faculty, trainees, and practitioners in Botswana. The first of these collaborations started over 10 years ago with funding from the Fogarty International Center at the National Institutes of Health to operate a masters of epidemiology training program to build research capacity in Botswana. Injury epidemiology and prevention (eg, from motor vehicle crash, falls, violence, sport participation) was the focus of that grant and the focus of Dr. Wiebe’s work more broadly, but his collaborations in Botswana span multiple areas of public health and delivery of medical care. Dr. Wiebe is also director of the CDC-funded U-M Injury Prevention Center.
