Welcome from the President of the Public Health Student Assembly

Rachael Brooks

On behalf of the Public Health Student Assembly (PHSA) and the student body, I would like to extend a huge congratulations and welcome to your new home at the University of Michigan School of Public Health! If the current state of the world has taught us anything, it's that we need each other. Keep that in mind as you embark on and continue to grow through your academic and extracurricular journeys. The people sitting by you are going to be your coworkers, teammates, and friends and together you will be the next wave of public health professionals.

The SPH community is a warm and welcoming place, and now you are part of that culture! To continue to foster this spirit, PHSA and other SPH student organizations are working hard to provide events and opportunities for you to get to know one another. I strongly encourage you to make the most of your time here at SPH –– whether that’s two years, one, or four. Join organizations, step out of your comfort zone, meet new people, and immerse yourself in all that SPH has to offer. There is truly a niche for everyone. May you take this niche and positively impact the world with it.

I am looking forward to meeting many of you this fall! Until then, don’t hesitate to reach out to me (rachabr@umich.edu) or PHSA (phsaboard@umich.edu) with questions, concerns, or just to chat. :)

Go Blue!

Rachael Brooks
