Requirements

Predoctoral Fellowship

• Previous graduate, current doctoral work or strong interest in ELSI research
• Citizen, non-citizen national, or permanent resident of US
• Enrollment in a doctoral program at the University of Michigan

Postdoctoral Fellowship

• Previous doctoral work or strong interest in ELSI research
• All requirements of the PhD or equivalent terminal degree must be completed before the postdoctoral research fellow appointment period
• Citizen, non-citizen national, or permanent resident of US

Application Deadline

• Applications are not currently being accepted for predoctoral and postdoctoral fellowship positions

Required Information to Apply

Predoctoral Fellowship

Please complete the online trainee-application form. On the form, you will be asked to upload a single pdf file which includes the following:

• Cover letter including a detailed statement of a) research interests in ELSI topic areas and b) potential match with UM mentors and projects 
• 1 writing sample (e.g., peer reviewed publication, academic paper)
• CV
• Letter of support from your doctoral advisor / mentor
• Graduate and undergraduate transcripts

Postdoctoral Fellowship

Please complete the online-trainee application form. On the form, you will be asked to upload a single pdf file which includes the following:

• Cover letter including a detailed statement of a) research interests in ELSI topic areas and b) potential match with UM mentors and projects
• 1 writing sample (Peer reviewed publication preferred) 
• CV
• 3 professional references. Postdoctoral fellowship applicants will be asked to provide the following information for each reference:
  • Name, title, institution
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Relationship to you
