Jan Lach

Jan Lach, PE, CSP

Jan's career in engineering began over 35 years ago, progressing from a maintenance field mechanical engineer to project manager to design engineer to senior-level management. For the past 20 years, she has been an occupational safety professional focusing on managing professional staff and creating and managing occupational health, safety, and environmental management programs using Prevention Through Design principles.

Early in her career, she was employed as a civilian by the US Air Force providing field maintenance support in Wyoming and Ohio and managing design and construction projects based in Egypt. After leaving the Federal government, Jan worked for Jacobs Engineering as a system safety design engineer for aerospace and automotive specialty testing and support equipment. While at Jacobs, she was asked to create occupational safety and environmental management programs for new and existing test facilities in Michigan, New York, and Mexico. In 2003, Jan moved into the healthcare industry as the assistant director of the Safety Management Services group at Michigan Medicine, retiring in December of 2020.

Jan remains active in professional and civic work. She is a mentor with the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) group, Women in Safety Excellence, an active member of the University of Michigan Retirees Association, and a member of the Novi Beautification Commission.
