To create an atmosphere wherein academic and professional excellence can coincide with the interests of populations of African descent. We strive to disseminate and exchange information regarding the concerns of marginalized groups in the field of Public Health and to serve as a network and support system for educational and professional purposes at the University of Michigan and beyond.
PHSAD has three main principles that it lives by, as well as guides its everyday functions.
- Support: Our goal is to be a support system to students of African Descent and we do so by providing academic, professional and social support.
- Advocacy: Our goal is to advocate for causes that are important to our community, as well as the experience of students of African Descent at the University in general.
- Service: Our goal is to be a resource to our members as well as the greater SPH student body, the University of Michigan campus and the greater world.
