Local favorites include Fleetwood Diner, Zingerman’s Deli, and The Lunchroom. Annual events like Taste of Ann Arbor and Restaurant Week help you explore Ann Arbor dining. Grocery options are plentiful, affordable, and accessible via a range of public transportation options.

Getting Around

The University’s 12 bus routes are free to the general public and operate daily in and around campus. Ann Arbor city buses—known as The Ride—provide local public transit for the greater Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti area, and are free for students with your student ID. Ann Arbor is a bike-friendly city with more than 87 miles of bike lanes. You can also get around town using ride sharing services like Lyft and Uber, and electric Spin scooters. Students also enjoy a Zipcar discount.

Finding the right housing can often be a daunting task, especially if you are new to the area. To help make Ann Arbor feel like home, we invite you to explore our neighborhoods to help students find their best fit.

Once you have an idea of where you’d like to live, we have many resources to help you secure housing. On-Campus housing refers to properties owned by the university. These properties include residence halls and university-owned apartments. Off-Campus housing signifies all properties owned by area landlords and includes apartments, houses, and cooperatives. Despite being considered “off-campus,” many of these properties are physically closer to campus buildings than the residence halls and other university-owned housing.
