Public Health, Policy, and Immigration in a Shifting Political Climate
University of Michigan School of Public Health
1680 SPH I (Paul B. Cornely Community Room), 1415 Washington Heights Ann Arbor, MI 48109-2029
This event, featuring Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, will explore the impact of political shifts on public health and policy, with a particular focus on immigration and marginalized communities. As political climates change, so do policies related to healthcare access, environmental health, and social determinants of health, all of which disproportionately affect immigrant and minority populations. Through a discussion led by Dr. El-Sayed, a public health expert and advocate, this event will examine the ways in which policy decisions shape health outcomes, access to care, and community well-being. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the intersection between politics and public health, as well as potential avenues for advocacy and reform. An iftar will be provided, fostering a space for community engagement and meaningful conversations during Ramadan. MENAPH, La Salud & HPSA
