The Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) program is a unique 2-year postgraduate program in service and is CDC’s globally recognized applied epidemiology training program. The session will provide an overview of the EIS program and highlight recent work with a focus on application of occupational epidemiology skills in U.S. and international field settings. Dr. Amel Omari is an occupational epidemiologist and Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer at the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, an institute of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She graduated with her PhD from the University of Michigan School of Public Health in 2021. CAPT Christine West is assigned as an Epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Division of Global HIV and TB. She completed a PhD in Epidemiology from University of Michigan School of Public Health in 2014. She is on active duty with the U.S. Public Health Service, holds current licensure as a Registered Nurse, and board certification in occupational health nursing.
