Hybrid event - 1750 SPH I or Online in Zoom, 1415 Washington Heights Ann Arbor, MI 48109-2029

This workshop is open to faculty, staff, and PhD students at the University of Michigan School of Public Health

How should public health faculty and researchers use social media? The wide array of social networking platforms can be daunting to approach. Should we still be using Twitter? Is LinkedIn the new “cyber town square?” In this 1-hour workshop, we’ll discuss the current landscape of the major social media platforms, along with some tips on strategies for posting and engagement.

Workshop highlights:

  • An overview of the current state of social media for academics and health professionals.
  • Using social media as a platform to add a personal voice to professional insight.
  • Strategies for posting on social media and interacting with the general public, with emphasis on Twitter/X, Bluesky, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Threads, and TikTok.
  • Resources available to you from the University of Michigan and the School of Public Health Marketing and Communications team.

Host: Isaac Vineburg, Social Media and Content Specialist, University of Michigan School of Public Health
