Connecting with and learning about the journey of alumni within public health can be an informative experience as you plan your path. If you are a prospective or admitted graduate student who is considering pursuing a degree within the field of public health, please join us for an Alumni Lightning Talk with Pedro Orozco del Pino!

This session will allow you to hear directly from Michigan Public Health alumni about their experiences as a student and career trajectories post-graduation.

Pedro is currently a biostatistician at Eli Lilly working on clinical trials on diabetes. He finished his Ph.D. in Biostatistics in Fall 2022. Pedro worked in statistical genetics and data integration methods. He is a former Fulbright-García Robles fellow (2017-2020), which helped him support himself during his Ph.D. Pedro is also a co-founder of “Mexicanos en Estadística y Salud," a science communication group of Mexican researchers.

Pedro completed a MS in the Department of Statistics at the Center for Research in Mathematics (CIMAT). Pedro received a B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from the Mexico Autonomous Institute of Technology (ITAM), where he did his thesis with Professor Luis Enrique Nieto Barajas.

Pedro moved from Mexico City to Ann Arbor in 2017, where he lives with his family. In his free time, he doodles, plays with his kids, hangs out with his spouse, and sends dad jokes to his friends.
