During the month of October, we will be hosting our in-person Prospective Student Day in Ann Arbor, MI as well as virtual sessions with our academic departments. These events are a great opportunity to:

Rob Davidson

Dr. Rob Davidson has served patients in his community for nearly two decades in a rural west Michigan ER. Using that experience he's become a vocal advocate for state and national policies to expand affordable healthcare to all patients. He discusses how he's earning his MPH as an online master’s student, while battling COVID-19 on the frontlines and fighting for health care policy in the media.

Mysheika Roberts

MPH '94, Health Behavior and Health Education; First Black health commissioner in Columbus

When basketball superstar and Michigan native Earvin “Magic” Johnson of the Los Angeles Lakers announced in 1991 that he was HIV positive, not only did the news shock the world but it had a profound effect on the career path of Dr. Mysheika Roberts. Today, Roberts, an alumna of the University of Michigan School of Public Health, is the Columbus Public Health commissioner.

Sidonie Kilpatrick

MPH '20, Epidemiology

Sidonie Kilpatrick, MPH ’20, did not follow a family member’s path into the healthcare profession. She did not receive inspiration from a popular television series that showed healthcare workers in heroic roles, nor did her high school classes in related subjects provide the illumination that would send her on to study and work on critical matters of public health. Instead, she lived it.

Phil Hartley

MS '22, Nutritional Sciences

Phil Hartley, MS ’22, was diagnosed with an idiopathic disease at a young age, so the importance of quality health care has always been a big part of his life. His condition—an idiopathic disease is a disease of uncertain or unknown origin—and the challenges he anticipated facing motivated him from an early age to think deeply about how to live a full life and make a positive impact on others.
