For HSHE's fall event, our speakers will focus on the interconnectivity of neighborhoods, housing, and eye health.
Dr. Patrice M. Hicks is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the Kellogg Eye Center. She will discuss her research focused on the neighborhood and built environment domain of the social determinants of health. Specifically, she will address how historical and current measures of neighborhood inequity impact current measures of visual impairment and blindness.
Dr. Hicks will be joined by Mikaelah Johnson-Griggs, an M.D. candidate at Michigan Medicine, who will be discussing her work in Dr. Newman-Casey’s lab research that focuses on unstable housing, food insecurity, and eye health. Please join us!
