Internships & Experiential Learning
Launch Your Public Health Career with an Internship
Internships provide valuable opportunities for University of Michigan School of Public Health students to apply public health skills and coursework concepts within a work setting, explore career preferences and goals, and build meaningful connections within the public health field.
Internships are required for all residential Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA), and Master of Health Informatics (MHI) students. Undergraduate, Master of Science (MS), and PhD students are welcome to complete internships if they choose to do so. While students are responsible for finding, securing, and completing their internships, the School of Public Health provides support for students throughout the process. Students can search for internship postings, sign up for career coaching appointments, and register for employer events and workshops using the Careers Gateway.Internship Organizations

International Student Requirements
If you are a student on an F1 visa applying for an internship or Applied Practice Experience (APEx) that is not located at the University of Michigan you will need to file a Curricular Practical Training (CPT) visa application through the University of Michigan's International Center. Please note that regardless of whether the internship is paid or unpaid, you need to file for CPT. Please begin this process early as CPT Authorization takes 1-2 weeks to process and requires several documents that may take time to compile. Current students can view additional details on the Heights .
