Post Positions for Michigan Public Health Students

We invite employers to post internship, project, research, and job positions for our talented students on the University of Michigan School of Public Health Careers Gateway (our job board). When posting the position, you can select whether you want students to apply via a link on your organization's website, email you their application materials, or submit application materials via the Careers Gateway, where you can go to review submitted applications.

Detailed Instructions

Log into the Careers Gateway. You can choose to sign in with Google or Microsoft or click "Sign up for an account" and create a password. Then fill out your account information with your organization, job title, and contact information.

After signing into the Careers Gateway, click on the Job Board module on the left-hand side of the page and then click on the "+ Post a Job" button in the top right corner of the Job Board page. Enter position details using the guide below. Fields with an * are required.

Job Details

  • Employer* - Your organization should auto-populate here
  • Job Title* - List the job title. For internships and projects, we recommend including the semester (Fall 2025, Summer 2026, etc.)
  • Type of Job* - Select from "Undergraduate Internship," "Graduate Internship," "Fellowship," "Full-time Job," "Part-time Job," or "Project or Volunteer Opportunity"
  • Salary Range - Not required, but we highly encourage employers to list the salary range in order to create transparent and equitable hiring processes
  • Location Type* - Specify Location(s), Flexible/Negotiable, or Remote/Telecommute
  • Location* - After selecting country, note that cities are all pre-populated so you can start typing, and then the options will populate from there and you can choose one, which will include state as well
  • Industry* - View options and select all that apply
  • Job Function* - View options and select all that apply
  • Preferred Years of Experience - Not required, see Job Description suggestions below
  • Interview Format - Not required
  • Public Health Field (select all that apply)* - View options and select all that apply
  • Job Sector* - Select closest match from drop-down list
  • Target Audience* - Select the student groups that you are interested in hiring for your position. You can review the U-M Michigan Public Health Student Profiles page to read about the training and skills of our various students.
  • Minimum Degree Required* - Select the degree that the student should have completed by when they start the position. For internships that do not require a completed degree, you can select "Bachelors" or "No degree required."

Job Description Recommendations

We recommend including the following elements in your job description in order to provide an inclusive hiring process for students:
