Brown Bag Book Club
University of Michigan School of Public Health
3750 SPH I, 1415 Washington Heights Ann Arbor, MI 48109-2029

We are a group of colleagues at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, Department of Health Behavior and Health Education who are interested in reading. That's it ... plain and simple. Not many rules for this book club. We are starting with one book per month and will choose each book by member majority. We meet once a month during lunch hour to discuss the book. Consumption of the material is whatever the member wants. Audiobook, e-book, hardcopy, even movie. We will just talk about what we experienced, how we felt, what the plot and characters meant to us, how we might improve it or better consume it or even how we might us the material to better our community. The one big rule is that this club is a "No Judgement" Zone. Ideally everyone would finish the book in time but if not, that is fine. We all want to read, but we also want to be open to each others experiences, even if that means not finishing or even starting the book. If we don't finish the book ... That is fine. If we can't get through and hate the book ... that is fine too. Whatever our individual experiences are ... that is what we will share. Included in the "No Judgement" Zone is treating the book and the attendees of the book club with respect and courtesy, knowing and accepting each other for our varying opinions, perspectives and life histories. Our difference are what make us all valuable individuals and stronger as a community.
