EHS DEI Workshop: Change It Up! Bystander Intervention Training (EHS ONLY)

NOTE: This is an EHS only event that is open to the department's faculty, staff and students. Will Sherry created "Change It Up!" and will be personally facilitating a session with our department, and has offered to tailor this session to the needs of students, staff, and faculty within EHS. As director of the Spectrum Center, Will focuses on diversity, equity, and inclusion strategic planning, organizational development, supervision, and leadership of campus-wide educational programming. Will is a 2007 graduate of the University of Michigan School of Social Work where he focused on Interpersonal Practice with Children, Youth, and Families and a 2005 graduate of the College of Wooster. Will currently serves on the School of Social Work Board of Alumni through which he focuses on professional development of alumni. Skills you will gain during this training session include: • Identify self-awareness and social responsibility as qualities of strong personal leadership • Determine various options for effectively intervening during a negative situation • Develop your ability to assess which intervention option is best based on the situation • Discuss and practice how to leverage bystander intervention skills within the campus community Boxed lunch will be provided.
