Where to Find your Internship

Students find their internships through a wide range of resources.

Advisors/Faculty: More than 1/4 of internships are found through the help of your advisor or departmental faculty. Network and let them know what you are looking for and ask for any contacts.
Program Coordinator: Each department has a different system in place to help assist you with locating internships. Check with your departments to see what resources they offer.
Review information about our SPH Faculty Profiles, Centers and Initiatives, Research Projects to see which contacts you should reach out to regarding potential internships.

Postings: Every year SPH Careers Gateway posts hundreds of internships - typically peaking in October/November and again in January/February.

Use the filters pinned at the top of the job board to search for positions that align with your interests.

University Resources

The Career Center maintains a posting site for jobs and internships and is located in the Student Activities Building.
The International Center’s Study, Work, and Travel Abroad Office serves as a one-stop resource for finding overseas educational opportunities. Staff and peer advisors are available to advise you on opportunities that best meet your needs.
Going Global Country Career and Employment Resources provides world-wide job openings, internship listings, industry profiles and country-specific career information designed to help citizens of one country find employment in another country (including the U.S.).
USA Career Guides contain career and employment resources for job-seekers covering the 40 largest metropolitan areas in the USA. Included in this database are: job search resources, employment outlook, professional networking groups, cost of living, major employer listings by industry sector, non-profits and volunteer opportunities.
Vault Online Career Library compiles career information and management tools providing internship, industry, profession, company data and insight used to frame first time employer selection decisions.

MyWorldAbroad offers searchable resources for international opportunities and advice for going abroad.
LinkedIn is a professional networking site that has a growing community of University of Michigan School of Public Health Users. Students are given access to join the University of Michigan Alumni Association- official and unofficial groups, and the UM SPH groups during the beginning of the Winter semester.
My Visa Jobs includes reports on the top occupations, job titles, and industries that apply for H-1B visas.

Global Talent Retention Initiative helps international students identify companies that consider all qualified applicants for jobs. The site has a list of employers that hire international students and consider sponsoring work visas (i.e. H-1B).
