The Department of Biostatistics is pleased to announce that Dr. Elizabeth Stuart from the Department of Biostatistics at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health has been awarded the 2020 Rod Little Lectureship Award. This award was established in 2016 to honor a distinguished alumnae and/or a statistician with outstanding contribution to the field of biostatistics. Created to celebrate the legacy and work of our dear colleague, mentor and friend Rod Little, the award recognizes Professor Little's extraordinary contribution to the department of Biostatistics at the University of Michigan and to the broader profession of statistics. Prior recipients include Professor Joel Greenhouse from the Carnegie Mellon University (2016) and Professor Scott Zeger from Johns Hopkins University (2018). Professor Stuart was chosen unanimously by the department for her profound contribution to causal inference, analysis of observational data and statistical methods for mental health research. Professor Stuart's lecture titled "Learning what works in populations for public health and public policy: The role of statistics (and statisticians)" had been deferred due to the COVID-19 pandemic
