Epidemiology Impact Scholar

Allen Tugade

Allen Benjamin Tugade receives Epidemiology Impact Scholar Award

Award Overview

Established in 2026, the Epidemiology Impact Scholars Award is a premier, highly selective departmental honor designed to recognize extraordinary promise and achievement. Each year, it is awarded to an outstanding incoming student who has demonstrated exceptional academic excellence, leadership, and the potential to make a meaningful impact in the field of epidemiology.

Through dedicated philanthropic support, the Epidemiology Impact Scholars Fund provides both need- and merit-based assistance to master’s-level students in the Department of Epidemiology. This support helps ease financial barriers, enabling scholars to fully engage in rigorous coursework, professional development opportunities, and impactful research and practice—advancing public health in Michigan and beyond.

Selection Process

The award is presented each year. The Department of Epidemiology’s Admissions Committee reviews eligible candidates and selects the individual who best reflects the Impact Scholar’s commitment to epidemiology, including strong academic preparation, clear dedication to the field, and the potential to contribute meaningfully to public health. Selection is conducted entirely within the department through an internal process.
