Session Summary: Want to better understand the identities within the acronym and beyond? This workshop breaks down important language and terminology related gender expansive experiences. Participants will understand important do’s and don'ts related to inclusive and equitable treatment of LGBTQIA+ people and develop strategies for pronoun inclusion, interrupting biases, and being in active allyship. Participants will also engage in exercises that allow them to understand communication styles, needs and best means of being “called in”, challenged and/or supported by their colleagues or fellow community members.
Outcomes: Define important terminology and language related to sexual and gender identities Gain self and communal awareness around individual and collective communication and community building needs. Including needs for giving and processing feedback. Understand best practices and strategies for creating a climate of inclusion for gender and sexually diverse communities
