We are excited to announce that the 2025 Environmental Health Sciences (EHS) Symposium will be held in-person on Friday, March 14th at the School of Public Health. This annual event aims to bring together experts in pressing environmental health issues and create a learning environment for all attendees.
This year's symposium, titled “The Quiet Crisis: How Location Impacts Health Outcomes in Underserved Communities,” will feature presentations from:
- Dr. Alexis J. Handal, University of Michigan Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Global Public Health;
- Dr. Michael R. Kramer, Director at the Center for Rural Health and Disparities and Mercer University Professor of Community Medicine;
- Riyaz Kanji, tribal law attorney and founder of Kanji & Katzen law firm;
- Regina Strong, director of the Public Advocate Office of the Environmental Justice Public Advocate (OEJPA) in Michigan’s Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE).
We would like to invite all students to submit an abstract for a poster presentation at this year's symposium. While we expect all second-year and above doctoral students to submit their abstract, we welcome and encourage participation from all interested MS or first-year PhD students. This is a great opportunity to present your research in a friendly environment, receive feedback, and learn about your colleagues' research. Monetary rewards will be given to the top three presenters!
