United Dairy Industry of Michigan is sponsoring a trip to Horning Farms in Manchester, Michigan. Horning Farms was established in 1877 and now has a 6th generation starting to come back to the farm. They milk nearly 400 cows and harvest 750 acres.

During a visit to a modern Michigan dairy farm we'll see how animal care is always the first priority, and will learn about the steps the farm family and their team takes each day to take care of their cows. During the visit the family will share how they work with a veterinarian to keep the cows healthy, and how a nutritionist creates a balanced diet for the cows to provide all the nutrients they need. We'll also hear how the milk collected each day at the farm is on our store shelf in 48 hours, or turned into the cheese, yogurt, butter and other delicious, wholesome dairy products we enjoy.

Lunch provided for registered students.

Please be courteous. If you are no longer able to attend, release your reservation so another student may join. Seating is limited.

12:00 - 12:30 PM: Check-in and grab your boxed lunch! The bus will return to U-M Public Health by 4:00 pm.
