Mark your calendars for this year's UMMS student-run Sujal M. Parikh Memorial Symposium for Health & Social Justice, set to take place on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019 at the Michigan Medicine Biomedical Science Research Building. With the theme "Advancing Health Through Advocacy," this year's event will examine the role that healthcare providers and researchers play in advocating for health equity and social justice at home and abroad. Dr. Joneigh S. Khaldun, Chief Medical Executive (CME) and Chief Deputy Director for Health with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, will deliver the event's keynote address. There will also be an interdisciplinary panel discussion on advocacy among providers and researchers. Attendance is free and lunch is provided
