Student Abstract Competition

The Michigan Center for Respiratory Virus Research and Response is pleased to announce a student abstract competition in conjunction with the upcoming September 8th Thomas Francis Jr. Memorial Lecture and in honor of the career of Dr. Arnold Monto. Abstracts will be accepted on any topic relating to the epidemiology or prevention of infectious diseases, from University of Michigan students at any level. Students do not need to be part of UM Public Health or M-CRVRR to apply. The top three submissions, selected by a panel of faculty and staff, will be invited to give a 20 minute presentation prior to the September 8th Thomas Francis Jr. Memorial Lecture and will be awarded $100. Abstracts may be submitted as a Word or PDF document by 5:00pm EST, August 24, 2022 by email to floydd@umich.edu. The selected presenters will be notified on August 29, 2022. Abstracts should follow the following guidelines: 500 words or less (not including the title, authors, affiliations or funding) One figure or table may be included; this does not count toward the final word count All abstracts should list the title, student author, co-authors, and primary mentor. The abstract should note the affiliation of all authors. The applicant must be the first or sole author. Funding sources supporting the work can be listed as a footnote and will not count towards the final word count.
