To increase both the visibility of and access to SPH’s Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Leadership team, we launched a new initiative called “Chat with the DEI Team” in fall 2021. These one-hour virtual sessions were intended to create space for dialogue and create opportunities for the DEI team to hear the community’s input and enhance engagement with the school’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. The sessions were open-ended and participants set the agenda with the questions, concerns, or general interests that they brought to the conversation. The pilot year of this initiative was a success and we will continue to hold “Chat with the DEI Team” sessions this academic year. We invite all SPH faculty, staff, students, and research fellows to join for one or all of this year’s sessions.
Please join a session in order to:
- ask a question or two of the DEI Team!
- provide feedback about current and future DEI initiatives and priorities (or ask about a past priority or initiative that’s been on your mind)!
- share suggestions, ideas, or resources for new initiatives or programming in your department that you want to share (or maybe you want to hear from others)!
- troubleshoot a DEI challenge in your own department or propose a focused topic for future discussion!
You are also encouraged to join us even if you don’t have anything specific in mind, but you’d just like to support and be in community with others! We anticipate an informal exchange to encourage spontaneous conversation, and all (faculty, staff, students, and research fellows) are invited to join! We hope that you will be a part of these important conversations!
