Ruby Lucas, PhD, MPH
Postdoctoral Fellow
Ruby Lucas is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Applied Social and Psychiatric
Epidemiology for Community Transformation (ASPECT) Lab. Ruby’s dissertation explored
the relationship between gender affirmation and sexual and reproductive health (SRH)
care access and outcomes among transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive (trans)
populations. Their current body of research uses mixed-methods and community-engaged
research to examine multilevel factors that influence the health and well-being of
trans youth and adults, including the intersections gender affirmation, mental health,
violence prevention, and SRH. They are interested in addressing disparities in access
to health care and services, collaborating with health systems and community-based
organizations to evaluate programs, and identifying evidence-based interventions that
better meet the needs of marginalized communities and advance health equity.
