Description: This course will provide the knowledge and skills necessary to assess policies and their impact on environmental health and sustainability issues, and understand the role that governmental and organizational bodies play in the development, implementation, and oversight of these policies.
Learning Objectives: The students taking this class are expected to be able to:
1) Analyze environmental health policies, considering stakeholder engagement and the role of state, federal, and international agencies;
2) Understand the role of bodies and agencies in environmental health policies at local, state, federal, and international levels;
3) Evaluate policies for their impact on public health and health equity;
4) Recognize the challenges to successful development and implementation of environmental health policies.
