As I approach the final weeks of my graduate studies at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, I am excited for the opportunity to apply my public health skills on a global scale. This journey has been one of immense personal, professional, and academic growth, and I am eager to take what I’ve learned beyond the classroom.

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to travel to Grenada, where I will collaborate with the Grenadian government to help advance accessibility for persons with disabilities across the country. Representing the School of Public Health, I look forward to engaging in meaningful, community-driven work that has the potential to create lasting impact.

This experience will allow me to see firsthand how public health practices translate in different regions, especially as this will be my first international trip. More importantly, I am eager to learn from the community, gain deeper insights into cultural perspectives on health, and immerse myself in the local ways of addressing health challenges. I firmly believe that community members are the true experts in their health needs, and I look forward to listening, learning, and working alongside them.

I have heard incredible things about the Grenadian community and the strong reputation PHAST has built through its work. I hope to honor and build upon the legacy of the teams before me by making a meaningful contribution to this ongoing effort. With an open mind and heart, I am excited for the lessons and experiences that will shape my future in public health.
