Riding Into San Antonio

I’m very excited and a little nervous, because I haven’t spent much time in the southern
part of
the United States before. The culture is very different from Michigan, and I’m expecting
some
cultural shock. Although I don’t know Spanish yet, I’m hopeful I’ll still be able
to connect with
people, interact with the community, and learn from their experiences.
As I’ve read about San Antonio, I’ve noticed that the community has faced historical
disparities.
At the same time, I’m inspired by the resiliency and unity I see in people who advocate
for
change.
I’m really looking forward to this experience and to learning how we might contribute
in a
meaningful way! I hope to learn more about the community and offer a fresh perspective,
while
highlighting the positive strengths and spirit that make San Antonio such a special
place.
