Lello Guluma discovered her passion in public health as an undergraduate. This began her journey to delivering a speech at the graduation ceremony where she celebrated the completion of her master’s degree and the beginning of her future as a public health practitioner.
Taking a broad interest in biology, Kelly Bakulski found herself studying the subject on both the micro and macro scales. As a professor and researcher in epidemiology, she explores the impact the environment and genetics have on neurological disorders throughout a lifespan. Now, her focus on engaged learning and collaboration in the classroom has led her to be named the 2019 Excellence in Teaching award winner.
Personal connections and community support can keep researchers going on tough days in the lab. Evan Hill draws inspiration from those connections as he discovers more about breast cancer and obesity and shares those discoveries broadly.
Alextia Armstrong earned an MPH in Environmental Health Sciences in the Environment, Sustainability, and Heath program. She interned at the Ann Arbor Water Treatment Plant, where she conducted water quality tests, analyzed data, and worked on a sustainability project with City Hall.
