Tanaka Chavanduka was just four years old when his family fled from persecution in Zimbabwe. Despite the hardships he encountered, Chavanduka was able to excel academically. Now he is working to make a positive impact on marginalized communities and the country that helped him thrive.

Alumna Brenda Liz Henry joined New York City government because she wanted to be part of a system that would improve outcomes for children and families. In her hometown, she's driving evidence-based interventions focused on a critical period of development among low-income children and families who are predominately children and families of color.
