Paul B. Cornely, a three-time U-M alumnus (BS '98, MD '31, PhD '34) was a pioneer in the fight for equity and civil rights in public health. Throughout his career, he fought for the desegregation of hospitals and equal healthcare opportunities for all.

Leading health equity researcher Darrell Hudson, MPH ‘05, PhD ‘09, has been named chair of the Department of Health Behavior and Health Education at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. His appointment for a five-year term, effective August 26, 2024, was approved by the University of Michigan Board of Regents today.
On May 2, 2024, the University of Michigan School of Public Health celebrated more than 400 graduates during commencement at the historic Hill Auditorium who received 286 master’s degrees, 100 undergraduate degrees and 28 doctoral degrees. Herman “Hank” Koren, MPH ’59, credits having an “immense career” thanks to the generosity of Henry F. Vaughan, the inaugural dean of the University of Michigan School of Public Health.
